My Pacific was just where I left it, sparkling as if she hadn't even noticed I'd been gone. The cat was just where I left her, too - but she had definitely noticed I'd been gone.
My street is crowded with blossoming things - dozens of honeysuckles bushes in full bloom, bright bougainvillea, roses. (Crocuses and lilies?) Soon the jacarandas will be flowering.
I am so relieved to be home. Come to think of it, every time I've left LA, I've been happy to come home to LA. She's so beautiful, the rest of the country ...the world, pales. Any other place is a contrast, not a substitute.
Venice, home, and beauty.
