Sometimes the setting sun offers relief

we spent Sunday at the marina in Long Beach, ostensibly stand up paddle-boarding and working on my sister-in-law's boat, Le Reve. In reality paddle-boarding was a brief activity, and mostly we suffered through a blazing hot day on the deck of Pilot, swaying His Honor alfot to the mast to fix a light, and then lighting him gently back on deck.

The heat was punishing, and I assure you in mid-October, this is one of my least favorite things about Los Angeles. Finally by sunset, though, the work was done and the heat broke.

One might think the fading of the light was a loss. But in some cases, the relief from heat is far more important than the light itself.

I'm still processing the whole being out of work thing - but I have high hopes that it a welcome relief, and the start of something new and better.
