Good Deeds

So, I'm talking with crapdaddy earlier today.

I tell him that I'm just going to Aikido in sweats since my gi is in PA, and I have to wait for payday to buy one.

We're also talking about life; he's been plague-ridden lately and his lovely lady has had a series of unfortunate incidents, too. Karmically, it's just like we're all screwed all of a sudden.

So, he tells me he's going to be in Sannamonica in the afternoon, and can he stop by and check out the office?

Well of course, so we meet up out front ... and he's got a brand new gi and bokken for me.

It's one of the kindest thing anyone's ever done for me, and I was deeply moved and grateful. Suddenly his strange questions about whether I had a sentimental attachment to having exactly the right bokken, and what kind of belts we wore in class make sense. His seemingly random curiosity was in fact, a clever plan to find out what to pick up!

Aikido and so forth made sense. I certainly didn't expect this - but this is the best surprise I've had in a long time. Not to mention getting to sit outside in the sun with him and his gracious lady for a little while, and talk about stuff.

I'm blessed with excellent friends, who I esteem very deeply. I can only aspire to be worthy of them.
