Narrative neatness

You know how in movies and books and whatnot, when the protagonist is grappling with some internal problem, they inevitably get just the insight they need at just the right moment?

Some random friend or confessor or dispenser of wisdom? Someone with just the right anecdote or question or tough love?

Yeah. Real life isn't like that.

Real life WOULD be so much easier if it had a script, with all those perfectly timed revelations.

All the insight/wisdom/tough love in the world doesn't mean a thing if we aren't paying attention when it's given. And, sometimes, if we need help sorting out an internal problem, we would do best to ask for a second opinion.
