Music Monday: Creationist Clocks edition

This is a really cool experiment a fellow did, de-bunking the notion that complex organisms must be designed because shaking a box full of clock parts will not create a clock. He shows that, all other things being equal, it WILL in fact, create a clock - actually in some cases clocks more efficient and better than the ones we use!

Of course, it's an anti-creationist rant, so it's a bit preachy in parts. But on the other hand... Coldplay!

Coldplay!

But... I'd take that guy on in a debate- and I'd probably win, too. Not because I have a real investment in proving Intelligent Design, but because the logical fallacies in his arguments are just too easy.

To start with, he hasn't clearly defined what he proposition is that he is addessing. Is it intelligent design? Or is it that clock pieces in a box can become a clock? Which is it?

There is the obvious ad hominem attack and the lack of cited sources. Can he prove that a scientific study has not been done? I could also argue that he uses a classic appeal to ignorance, observational selection, a false dichotomy and more.

It's not the data he presents, it's how he presents it. Also, the smug tone just annoys me. Far, far too much like the nonsense that can be seen on the board on any given day.
